Prieto math & Science Academy:

Prieto has been my home-away-from-home since 2017. I started as a substitute teacher, took over a 6th grade ELA class, then started a Health & Wellness class with a focus on Social Emotional Learning.

I was fortunate to have coached basketball at the middle school level this past school year (2023-2024). While my 7th/8th grade girls team made it to the semi-finals in Network 3 of Chicago Public Schools, my 5th/6th grade team took home the championship plaque for the first time in our schools history! While both teams exceeded
I was also lucky to have coached the first JV girls softball team at Disney II Magnet High School back in 2016. My team consisted of girls from grades 9 and 10. A handful of my student athletes also played on Varsity. During Varsity playoffs, my JV team was added to the Varsity roster and several of my JV girls got the opportunity to play. I was so proud of all their growth as individual players and as a team.

I taught the first year writing course, Writing and Rhetoric. My students were from around the globe and varied in age from 18-40. It was an amazing experience to say the least.
Waianae
high school:

I taught at Waianae High School from 2008-2010. I was a first and second year teacher and learned a ton! Not only did I learn a lot about teaching English, I also learned a lot about school funding, furloughs, the NCLB Act, observational education and teaching (via the Berc Group Consulting firm), island life, and the amazing culture of the Hawaiian people.

Saline, michigan
During the third trimester of the 2007-2008 school year, I was a Student Teacher at Saline High School. It was here that I first took charge of a classroom and began learning what life as a Professional English Teacher was like. Click the button to see a bit of what my time there was like.
